About Maceo A. Brown and Alicia Hutchinson-Brown, Co-Founders of System 5 Electronics, Inc.
System 5 Electronics, Inc. was founded by Maceo A. Brown with a vision of providing dependable security services while creating opportunities within his community.
A native of Southwest Atlanta, Maceo developed a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit through the influence of his family and mentors. After completing electrical trade training through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he began his career as an electrician. Determined to become a business owner, Maceo sold his Cadillac, purchased a work truck, and launched System 5 Electronics.
His wife and co-founder, Alicia Hutchinson-Brown, played an essential role in establishing and growing the company. A Georgia State University graduate with a degree in business, Alicia helped organize the company’s administrative operations and introduced computerized office systems. System 5 began as a home-based business with six employees. The Browns’ living room served as a conference room, the den became the operations office, and the garage was used for equipment and storage. The name “System 5” represented the five security services the company offered at the time.
Maceo passed away on June 21, 2023, following a lifetime of entrepreneurship, leadership, and community service. After his passing, Alicia assumed the role of CEO and continues to guide System 5 Electronics according to the customer-first principles on which Maceo founded the company.
Maceo and Alicia also shared a strong commitment to giving back. In 2007, they established MACEO’s Kids Foundation—Mentoring Aspiring CEOs—a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting young people with mentors, encouraging entrepreneurship, and promoting economic empowerment and community development.
Today, under Alicia’s leadership, System 5 Electronics continues Maceo’s legacy by protecting its customers, serving the community, and creating opportunities for future generations.
