Maceo A. Brown has been invited by President Jimmy Carter to serve a three-year term on the Board of Councilors of The Carter Center. The Board or Councilors serves as an important channel of communication to private-sector leadership in Atlanta and beyond. The board was established 32 years ago and has been chaired by several of the city’s most distinguished civic leaders including Ivan Allen III, Bob Holder, Bill Dahlberg, Ingrid Saunders Jones, Charles Brewer, Claire Lewis Arnold, Ann Cramer, Walter Driver Jr., Dennis Lockhart, Martha Finn Brooks, Liz Blake, Shan Cooper and Reade Fahs. Its current chair is Dan Cathy.
The Carter Center’s activities have touched the lives of many of the world’s most threatened and deprived people and have contributed to Atlanta’s growing impact on the national and international scene.
The board will convene for the first time this year on Friday, February 15th.
