There is a one-time set-up fee of $35 to become part of our Neighborhood Watch Program.
Why Join the System 5 Community Alert?
1. Quick, clear communication, 24/7, 365 days a year
Technology provides many ways for people to communicate with one another. An effective community alert system should take advantage of these methods of communication.
System 5 Electronics will help your community set up a communications network utilizing text messaging, email, and an online portal to ensure that if the need arises, those in your community will be able to quickly and efficiently get the word out when necessary if help is needed or when there is important information that your community needs to share. One way we do this is with pre-defined alert short codes. In a stressful situation, it may be difficult to quickly compose a text message that clearly communicates the nature of an alert. Our short codes come with pre-written subject lines that save time and provide a consistent format for alert messages.
System 5 Electronics Community Alert short codes:
- CAN – subject: Disregard Alarm Notification
- ACT – subject: Criminal Activity Observed
- HLP –subject: I Need Help
- FYI – subject: For Your Information
- MPA –subject: Missing Person Alert
If you are using the ACT, HLP, MPA, or FYI short codes to send an alert, you can reply to your mobile setup text message to send an alert using one of these short codes followed by whatever message you wanted to send. For instance, you could reply with the following text:
HLP I think someone is trying to break into my home at 2820 Campbellton Rd
You will then be sent a message confirming that you wish to send your message as an alert. After you affirm, the alert will be sent. The above message would be received as a text message with the subject “I Need Help” and the message would read, “I think someone is trying to break into my home at 2820 Campbellton Rd.” Alert messages should be limited to 100 characters. The message used as an example is 74 characters.
2. We handle the maintenance of your contact lists to ensure they are up to date
People with busy lifestyles can find it difficult to maintain your neighborhood watch contact information for those in your community. Why not let System 5 handle this task?
3. We are a neutral agent.
We will also help to ensure that those in your community do not abuse the alert system by providing rules of use guidelines. Since we are not personally involved with your neighbors, we will be in the position to oversee your community watch without affecting personal relationships between you and your neighbors.
4. We will be there to answer any questions regarding the use of our service.
System 5 Electronics will help guide those who sign up for our service through the process of setting up their account, joining the community group which System 5 Electronics has set up for them, and using the community alert system.
