Maceo A. Brown to become Member of The Carter Center Board of Councilors

Maceo A. Brown has been invited by President Jimmy Carter to serve a three-year term on the Board of Councilors of The Carter Center. The Board or Councilors serves as an important channel of communication to private-sector leadership in Atlanta and beyond. The board was established 32 years ago and has been chaired by several of the city’s most distinguished civic leaders including Ivan Allen III, Bob Holder, Bill Dahlberg, Ingrid Saunders Jones, Charles Brewer, Claire Lewis Arnold, Ann Cramer, Walter Driver Jr., Dennis Lockhart, Martha Finn Brooks, Liz Blake, Shan Cooper and Reade Fahs. Its current chair is Dan Cathy.

The Carter Center’s activities have touched the lives of many of the world’s most threatened and deprived people and have contributed to Atlanta’s growing impact on the national and international scene.

The board will convene for the first time this year on Friday, February 15th.

Maceo A. Brown to be Inducted into the Atlanta Business League’s 2018 Business Hall of Fame

On Thursday, November 29th, 2018, System 5 Electronics CEO Maceo A. Brown will be inducted into the Atlanta Business League’s 2018 Business Hall of Fame as part of the ABL’s 85th Annual Meeting commemorating its 85th Anniversary. For more than eight decades since its founding in 1900 by Booker T. Washington, the ABL has been a catalyst fostering development and growth of minority businesses in metropolitan Atlanta. The ceremony will take place in The Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia Aquarium, 246 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30313, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.

Maceo A. Brown Awarded the Herndon Lifetime Achievement Award

Each year Alonzo F. Herndon Lifetime Achievement award is presented to a worthy Metro Atlanta Business leader that has risen to a significant level of entrepreneurial achievement and displays an enduring commitment to exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit. Maceo A. Brown, President of System 5 Electronics, Inc. and Founder of MACEO’S (Mentoring. Aspiring. CEO’s) Kids, is the 2018 recipient of this award in recognition of over 28 years serving the Atlanta community as the largest African American owned and operated security and alarm monitoring company in the state of Georgia. In 2007, Mr. Brown also founded MACEO’s (Mentoring Aspiring CEO’s) Kids, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that was created to empower and strengthen high school age students by reinforcing the fundamentals of academics through mentorship and advocacy. The 2017 Alonzo F. Herndon Lifetime Achievement awardee was Milton J. Little of the United Way.
