ICABA® Salutes Atlanta’s Distinguished Achievers September 18, 2014
A Powerhouse Group of Atlanta’s Leaders to be Recognized at the Buckhead Club

System 5 Electronics President Maceo A. Brown has been chosen by ICABA® Media Group, LLC, a South Florida based company, well known in the region for its expanding network of accomplished black professionals, to be one of 12 of Atlanta’s distinguished achievers to be honored at a VIP reception on Thursday, September 18th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Buckhead Club in Atlanta. The event will also feature a special presentation to Xernona Clayton, legendary Atlanta civic leader.

The ICABA® Salutes is the first event of its kind in Atlanta, in partnership with Celebrity Cruises as they celebrate 12 of Atlanta’s most accomplished black professionals and entrepreneurs. Honorees include Miguel Southwell general manager of the Atlanta Aviation Department and Xernona Clayton. Clayton, founder, president and chief executive officer of the Trumpet Awards Foundation, Inc. has a rich legacy of accomplishments and service in Atlanta, and throughout the country, will be recognized as an ICABA® Icon, (the highest award) during the ICABA® Salute.

The Atlanta honorees were selected from 33 nominees in categories ranging from academicians and educators, community and spiritual leaders, corporate executives, elected and appointed officials, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, legal professionals and media. Other honorees include Ceasar Mitchell, president of the Atlanta City Council, Curley Dossman, national chair of 100 Black Men of America and president of the Georgia-Pacific Foundation, Dr. Dennis P. Kimbro, author, speaker and professor at Clark Atlanta University, Leona Barr-Davenport, CEO of Atlanta Business League, Dr. Lisa Tait, founder of Women of Destiny Ministry, Pat Lottier, CEO of Atlanta Tribune, Dr. Thelma Wyatt Cummings Moore, retired judge, partner at Moore Law, LLC and Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, president and dean of Morehouse School of Medicine.

Hosted at the Buckhead Club, the ICABA® host committee is comprised of 10 local members including honorary co-chairs Miguel Southwell and Xernona Clayton, as well as Cynthia Williams, Deborah Newsom, Dr. Dennis P. Kimbro, Jonathan Edwards, Nancy Flake Johnson, Kathleen Bertrand, Robert L. McNeil and Dr. Teresa Hairston.

The invitation-only reception will take place the evening of Thursday, September 18th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will include a cocktail reception, award ceremony and feature works of fine art curated by WaterKolours Fine Art Gallery during the reception.
